Corrections policy
Corrections should make the record clearer, preserve accountability and distinguish factual repairs from ordinary editing.
How to request a review
Email [email protected] with the article title, page address, exact statement and supporting source. Explain whether the concern involves fact, context, headline, image, caption, link or accessibility.
Assessment
The newsroom reviews the original material, relevant records and the significance of the alleged error. It may seek clarification from the reader or another source. Decisions are based on evidence rather than the number or tone of complaints.
Types of change
- Correction: repairs a material factual error and explains what changed.
- Clarification: adds context where accurate wording could reasonably mislead.
- Update: adds a later development without treating the original account as erroneous.
- Editor’s note: explains a substantial issue, review or limitation.
- Retraction: removes reliance on material that cannot responsibly remain published.
Minor edits
Spelling, punctuation, formatting and broken-link repairs that do not change meaning may be made without a correction note. Material changes should not be hidden as silent copy edits.
Images and legal requests
A request involving privacy, safety, copyright or a legal restriction is considered separately from factual accuracy. Removal is not automatic, but the publication may limit or remove material when continued display would be unlawful or disproportionately harmful.
Response expectations
Every substantiated concern will be considered, but no particular outcome or response time is guaranteed. Official case decisions must be addressed to the responsible authority, not the publication.
